NEW ALBUM HEATHENS COMING JULY 7TH 2017
THE CONCEPT BEHIND
“The “I’m better than you, I’m closer to perfect because I’m closer to god” complex that exists in a large majority of religions influenced me to write Judas. It’s not specifically about Judas from the bible but it is about Judas as metaphor to describe an act of betrayal, and perhaps that even the best people can also be the worst people”
MORE ABOUT THE VIDEO FOR
‘Judas’ is accompanied by a stunning music video, directed by Miles Skarin and produced by Crystal Spotlight.
The video for Judas was filmed in the summer of 2016 across multiple locations in the English countryside. The film work of David Lynch, Ben Wheatley and M. Night Shyamalan inspired the video’s cinematography and narrative framework.
Rian chose to commission the team at Crystal Spotlight, having been impressed with their broad portfolio of work for artists including Steven Wilson, Jethro Tull, Haken, The Mute Gods, Frost* and Paul Draper.
“For Judas, I wanted the video to be cinematic and beautiful but most importantly, capture the essence of betrayal. Miles and the team at Crystal Spotlight listened to what I wanted and have done an incredible job at bringing my visual concept for the song to reality”

COMING JULY 2017 – HEATHENS
“My new album HEATHENS draws on the concept of human frailty and imperfection and it’s impact on life’s journey. We are not perfect, we falter, we are human and sometimes we make horrible decisions and have to deal with the hurricane of consequences that come from them. I have always been intrigued by people and how they act outside of the walls of their local parish”
Rian Adkinson’s new album HEATHENS will be available on July 7th 2017.
